Obituary
James Walter Carpenter, 62, of Winchester died Saturday evening, August 23, 2014, at home with his family surrounding him following a period of declining health.
He was born on February 1, 1952, in Keene, the son of James Peter and Mildred (Pasno) Carpenter. He grew up in West Swanzey and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School in 1970.
Earlier in his life, Mr. Carpenter worked for Homestead Woolen Mills in Swanzey. He learned how to drive tractor trailer in that parking lot and went on to work for Matuszko Trucking for the next 33 years. He was valued as a key employee for many years.
He enjoyed motorsports of all kinds including sidecar races and repairing old cars and hotrods. He especially enjoyed working on his Nova with his son. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.
His family remembers him as outgoing, generous with his time and a loving person. He was a good father and grandfather and a wonderful husband. He is truly loved by all and will be missed dearly. “Rest Easy. ”
He is survived by his wife Lynn (Sanborn) Carpenter of Winchester; his children Christa Reny of Crestview, FL, James R. Carpenter of Winchester, and BobbiJean Pugh, and husband Shannon, of Port St. Joe, FL; five grandchildren Thomas and Amanda Reny, Jayden and Xavier Pugh and Hayden Carpenter; his mother Mildred Carpenter of Winchester; three sisters Marilyn Parker, and husband David, of Marlow, Mary Patterson, and daughter Tina, of Black River, NY, Judy Demerski, and husband Peter, of Easthampton, MA; mother-in-law Laura Sanborn of Bernardston, MA, sister-in-law Lydia Laflamm, and husband Phil, also of Bernardston, MA; many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. His father James Peter Carpenter died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening, August 28, 2014, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. There will be no services to follow and burial will be held at a later date.
