Obituary
Stewart J. “Stew” Marrotte, 57, of Dryden, N.Y., died unexpectedly Oct. 11, 2008, while visiting relatives in Marlow.
He was born in Troy Jan. 14, 1951, son of Wilfred and Alina Mattilla Marrotte. He graduated from Monadnock Regional High School in 1969.
Mr. Marrotte had worked at Troy Mills.
On Sept. 27, 1975, he married the former Debra Dimlich in Marlow. They moved to Fabius, N.Y., where he worked for Agway for a few years before becoming the working partner in the Ziebart Rustproofing franchise in Ithaca, N.Y.
In 2004, he and his son formed Marrotte, Inc. and opened for business on Route 13 between Dryden and Ithaca, N.Y. Recently, they added Battery Warehouse to their automobile sales and service business.
As an avid outdoorsman, he loved golfing, hunting, fishing and taking long walks. He greatly enjoyed spending every Memorial Day weekend fishing in the White Mountains with his brother.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law and son-in-law, who also had friends too numerous to mention individually.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Debra L. Marrotte of Dryden, N.Y.; his son, Jeffrey A. Marrotte of Dryden, N.Y.; his daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Paul Sabin Jr. of Cortland, N.Y.; three grandsons, Paul, Collin and Riley Sabin, all of Cortland, N.Y.; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Virginia Marrotte of Woodsville; his mother-in-law, Vera Dimlich of Marlow; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Caren and Ken Clark of Marlow; and nieces and nephews. His parents, and a sister, Helen Dorothy Daniels, all died earlier.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, N.Y. Rev. Alan Kinney will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, N.Y.Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
