Obituary
Jody Poirier, 55, of Cranberry Hill Road, Troy, NH, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at her home in Troy following a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Keene, NH, January 14, 1952, the daughter of Donald V. and Maryann (Mattila) Johnston. A lifelong resident of Troy, she attended local schools and was a 1970 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH.
Mrs. Poirier worked for the past 31 years as a special education tutor with the Monadnock Regional School District, with the past 15 years at the Emerson Elementary School in Fitzwilliam, NH. She enjoyed traveling, journeying to the Carribean, Florida, Hawaii and Mexico. She loved the ocean and flowers and had a zest for life and a wonderful gift for laughter. She was a devoted wife and mother who especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dennis M. Poirier of Troy, a son, Darren R. Poirier of Troy, 2 daughters; Hillary J. Gaillardetz and her husband David of Swanzey, NH, Michelle E. Poirier of Troy, 2 grandchildren; Tianna Snyder and Tanner Nettleton. She is also survived by her mother, Maryann Mattila of Summerfield, Florida, a sister, Suzan J. Mitchell and her husband Rick of Mattapoisett, Mass., 2 uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her father, Donald V. Johnston died on Saturday, April 7, 2007.
A funeral service will be held Friday evening, April 13, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene, NH. Rev. Robert DeYoung will officiate. Friends are welcome. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery Troy, will be private.
